Frequently Asked Questions

Personalized Solutions with Purpose and Passion

We simplify the complexity of wealth by integrating every part of your financial life—investments, planning, and tax strategy—into one coordinated, purpose‑driven plan. Our team collaborates with insurance advisors, estate attorneys, and other trusted professionals to ensure your entire financial world works together seamlessly.

As independent, fee‑only fiduciaries, your best interest is our only agenda. We provide transparent, conflict‑free advice aligned with your goals, values, and vision.

Fryar Financial was built on a simple belief: clients—not company quotas—belong at the center of every decision. “Putting the client first” isn’t a slogan. It’s the foundation of everything we do.

Are You A Fiduciary?

Yes, we act as a full-time fiduciary in every client relationship. As a NAPFA-Registered Fee‑Only Financial Advisor, we are legally and ethically required to put your interests first at all times. We provide advice without commissions, product sales, or third‑party incentives. Our fiduciary commitment applies to every plan, every recommendation, every day.

What Does "Fee-Only" Mean?

Fee‑only means we are paid solely by our clients, not by commissions or product providers. This structure removes conflicts of interest and ensures our recommendations are based entirely on your goals and best interests. NAPFA sets the national standard for Fee‑Only, fiduciary advice, and our membership reflects that commitment.

What Qualifications Do You Have?

We hold advanced, industry‑recognized credentials including CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ (CFP®), Chartered Financial Consultant® (ChFC®), Chartered Retirement Planning Counselor™ (CRPC®), and Sports & Entertainment Accredited Wealth Management Advisor™ (SE-AWMA™). These designations require rigorous education, ethics standards, and ongoing continuing education. They reflect deep expertise across financial planning, retirement income, tax strategy, and investment management.

How Long Have You Been A Financial Advisor?

We have decades of experience in financial services, including 23 years operating a tax practice and 20 years providing comprehensive financial planning and investment management. This background allows us to integrate retirement, tax, estate, and investment decisions into one coordinated strategy.

Who Is Your Typical Client?

We primarily serve mid-to-late career professionals, business owners and retirees who want a comprehensive, fiduciary‑led plan for building wealth and creating a work‑optional lifestyle. Many clients are navigating retirement income decisions, tax planning, equity compensation, or legacy planning. We work best with people who value clarity, collaboration, and long‑term strategy.

Do You Only Work With Clients In North Carolina?

No, we work with clients across multiple states in addition to North Carolina. As a modern fiduciary firm, we serve clients both locally and virtually, allowing us to support families wherever life takes them. Our planning and investment process is designed to work seamlessly across state lines.

What's Included In Your Financial Planning Service?

Our financial planning service follows the CFP Board’s 7‑step financial planning process, which ensures your plan is built on a clear, structured, and ethical framework. We start by understanding your financial situation and goals, analyze your current path, and develop personalized recommendations. From there, we help you implement the strategies you choose and monitor your progress over time so your plan stays aligned with your life.

How Do You Charge For Your Services?

We offer both hourly-based project planning and flat‑fee financial planning as well as AUM‑based investment management. Hourly and flat fees provide clarity and predictability, while AUM fees support ongoing planning, monitoring, and investment oversight throughout the year. There are no commissions, product sales, or hidden incentives. This structure ensures our compensation is aligned with your success and long‑term outcomes.

How Do You Manage Investments?

We manage portfolios using a disciplined, evidence‑based approach focused on diversification, tax efficiency, and long‑term risk management. We prefer to use Separately Managed Accounts (SMAs) to provide greater customization and tax control. Every portfolio is aligned with your financial plan and retirement income strategy.
